We don’t have much
information about Darwen Bolton Road Branch.
Our friends at Barclays tell us that an opening date is not recorded
on the Martins Bank Index Card for the branch. Our own records for the
Lancashire and Yorkshire date from 1922.
At that time Darwen Bolton Road does not appear in their branch

It is not mentioned either in
Kelly’s Directory of Lancashire in 1924. We therefore believe it must have
been opened some time between 1924 and 1928.
It is too small an outlet to have a telephone, and is not therefore to
be found in the phone books of the time.
