Bingley
Branch is full of character, and is opened in 1883 by the Craven Bank. Twenty-three years later, the Craven
amalgamates with the Bank of Liverpool, and the chain of mergers that leads
to the modern-day Martins Bank has begun. Bingley Branch is fondly remembered
by former Martins Staff, who know that by having a whole District in “God’s
own County” Martins can’t be all that bad.
Our thanks go once more to Julian Taylor who has kindly provided the
charming 1940s image of the Branch at Bingley shown below (centre). The Barclays collection of Martins Bank
photos provides the other exterior and interior shots of the Branch.
