Martins Bank 1928+

We are indebted to Mary Robinson who is featured here at the celebration party for the opening of Martins Bank’s new Wellingborough Branch in August 1967.  One of the last of the new generation of the Bank’s Branches to open, Wellingborough joins the Branch Network at a time when adding more and more offices is still seen as the answer to increasing business and profitability.  Typical of most branch openings of the time, a cocktail party is held in celebration, and as a vehicle to court prospective customers to leave their existing banks.
