 By 1969,
Martins has a total of six branches and sub branches in Middlesbrough, at
Albert Road, Linthorpe Road, Newport Road, North Ormesby, Oxford Road
  Linthorpe and Parliament Road.  Despite
this saturation of outlets, only one is closed in the run up to the merger,
and that is Newport Road in May 1969.
Although not a self accounting sub branch, Newport Road is
nevertheless a fairly busy branch, opening Monday to Friday, but with the day
split by a lunch hour.  This would
indicate a staff of only two, perhaps even one cashier plus a guard. The
lunch break is also a chance for work to be collected and taken back to the
main Branch at Albert Road. |

     This
largely circumvents the effect of bringing everything back to be processed in
one go, at the end of the working day.
Neither we nor our friends at Barclays have images of this branch, so

  usual address: martinsbankarchive@btinternet.com.
