There must be something about bank branches and corners, largely perhaps because so many banks, particularly in the larger towns and cities, choose to put branches on them!  It is of course the double aspect that grabs the attention of customers, in two different streets at the same time. In the twenty-first century, most of these buildings would fall foul of health and safety simply by virtue of the steps, rather than an access ramp lead up to the front door.

Some branches are built to last, many for more than a hundred years. Martins Bank’s Branch at Preston’s Moor Park however, lasts just fifty-three years, until 16 November 2018. Thanks to some more wonderfully preserved glimpes into the past from Barclays’ collection, we can see both sides of Moor Park, and glimpse its somewhat psychedelic interior as well…
