A Sub Branch at Milton Regis is opened in 1966. Sittingbourne is already established as one of the oldest of the Kentish branches – originally a branch of Messrs Vallance and Payne, and then later Martin’s Private Bank. As Milton Regis begins to feel the effects of urban sprawl, it becomes less of a village and more of a suburb of Sittingbourne – a good place then to add a Sub Branch with hours that suit both shoppers and local traders – Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm.

Milton Regis survuves the 1969 merger with Barclays, and the new owners keep it open for another fifteen years. The doors close for the final time towards the end of 1984. 	An indication that the financial position of an area is changing, is often the closure of a bank Branch. Former Branches find themselves as pubs, libraries or charity shops, and (as the economy dives further), betting shops and pop up shops. Not sure about this one…
