A small
convenience . . . The Bank of
Liverpool opens a Branch on Walney Island, Barrow in Furness, at Vickerstown
in 1904. This unassuming building, more redolent perhaps of a ublic
convenience than a bank greets traffic crossing the short bridge onto the
Island. Not much is
written in Martins Bank’s Magazine about this tiny sub-Branch, save for the
short piece below, contributed by the Manager of Kendal Branch, Mr C Clark in
the final full edition of the Magazine in Autumn 1969… |
