By the mid sixties, Martins
Bank’s programme of opening new Branches reaches full steam in the South
West. The Bank choose Symes Avenue Hartcliffe as the site of the latest
Branch in its Bristol Portfolio. Martins Bank is no stranger to Bristol, and
its connection with the City dates back to 1937 with the opening of BRISTOL
CITY OFFICE
at Corn Street, followed three years later by a Branch at Whiteladies Road,
Clifton. The Bank opens Broadmead in 1957, and Branches at NEWFOUNDLAND STREET, QUEEN
SQUARE
and UNIVERSITY
open between 1960
and 1967.
