It is always nice when pieces of evidence are available to confirm (or
deny) key details about a particular Branch.
In bringing you nearly 990 Branch sites for Martins Bank, we have
naturally used a colossal amount of historical information. |

In some cases there might only be one source, if we are lucky, two or
more really “seals the deal” as it were. Colne holds a fascinating place in
our list of Martins Bank Branches. For
such a quiet little town, tucked away
in deepest Lancashire, Colne has what might seem to be a disproportionate
share of Branches and sub Branches.
There is, we know, no substitute for a picture of a particular Branch,
but without that luxury, Martins Bank’s own branch listings and the immensly
valuable Phone Book entries have helped us out many times! The original Craven Bank Branch at Church
Street is retained in favour of the L & Y Bank’s Market Street Office,
which is closed by the end of 1928. |
